Introducing the first one-of-a-kind piece in the newest limited collection of genuine sun purple antique apothecary bottles. I've had a lot of requests for purple and amethyst glass bottles, and we happened upon a small lot of gorgeous bottles just begging to be topped by our handmade crystal crosses.
A lot of people wonder, why are some bottles purple, while others are blue, white, or amber? The simple answer is the compound of the glass. For centuries, lead has been used as a clarifying agent in glass making. In the mid 1800's, lead was removed from most food or medicine based glass, and substituted with manganese. Over time, bottles exposed to light with this manganese and no lead, began to turn lavender under the sun's ultraviolet rays.
RARE and stunning Austrian leaf crystals surround our favorite miniature rosette to create a stunning crystal cross in all proportions. We have never used these crystals in any of our Cross Bottle Guy cross bottles to date, and the refractory is beyond compare! These leaded true crystal prisms throw light in all directions, cascading majestic iridescent shadows against any surface. Topping a rare sun purple glass bottle, extremely rich with color, from 1904, this wonderful piece of art will be the center of any collection and incite awe and jealousy from all your friends!
